Paul Hubbman

East West Gateway Council of Governments

After earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from KU and a Master of Architecture and Urban Planning degree from Washington University, Paul Hubbman spent the first half of his career in the private sector practicing architecture and urban planning. Sixteen years ago, he joined East West Gateway, primarily to manage planning work in his hometown region. He is a north county native but now calls south city his home.

Paul Hubbman is the Senior Manager of Corridor and Long-Range Planning at East West Gateway. In that role, he oversees the Great Streets Initiative planning assistance program. He has been involved with the program since its inception. Now in its 20th year, the program has helped develop plans for 28 communities in the region, representing a wide range of contexts. The program has been adapted over time to address various scales of planning.

Presentation Description:

Paul will provide an overview of the history of the Great Streets Initiative in Greater St. Louis, highlighting how lessons from past projects inform the program’s ongoing evolution. He will also discuss how this historical perspective is shaping preparations for two upcoming projects, as well as guiding early planning for the program’s most complex undertaking yet, already selected for the next project cycle.
