Transportation Team Leader

Are you an Engineering leader who is successfully delivering major Transportation projects for Missouri DOT (MoDOT)? Garver seeking a Transportation Team Leader to join our growing team to build and oversee a dynamic portfolio of profitable roadway and transportation projects for MoDOT. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational & strategic direction of a highly talented team including profitable growth, client development, and project delivery. Additionally, you will be provided all necessary tools, resources, and guidance for success. Our leader must be an effective “doer/seller” with the ability to balance team & project management, and business development simultaneously. Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development activities including direct client interaction and engagement

  • Develop a strategic business plan and oversee the hiring of a team of team members to assist in the execution of the plan

  • Procure, manage, and execute transportation projects for Garver as needed

  • Project management, sub-consultant coordination, project/task scheduling, contract scope and fee development/negotiations, managing design team members, civil design, plan production oversight, preparing cost estimates, client management and interaction, business development.

  • Provide technical competency to serve as a project leader and technical advisor on transportation projects

  • Participate in marketing activities such as proposal and letter of interest production, interviews, and other presentations

  • Foster collaboration between design teams and specialized service providers

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Missouri or the ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months

  • 10+ years of experience managing diverse Transportation/Roadway projects with a successful track record of delivery on large scale MoDOT projects

  • Practical working knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the Roadside Design Guide, the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), and the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD) as well as MoDOT Design manuals and processes

  • Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, InRoads, and/or other roadway design software

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Team leadership skills to recruit, develop, mentor, and oversee a highly motivated team; interface and workload balance with other regional teams; and be accountable to senior management for team portfolio performance

  • Project management skills to prepare scope-of-work and level-of-effort estimates for contract proposals; lead and manage team for successful execution of contracted scope, budget, and schedule

  • Technical experience in geometric design for roadways/interchanges, drainage design (closed and open systems), construction sequencing and traffic control, and utility relocation coordination

  • 15+ years of team management experience, including experience leading roadway and transportation projects

  • Strong business development skills and previous experience with project and client management

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on MoDOT (or other DOT) transportation projects

  • Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer

  • 3D modeling experience
